Flag Lever Latch – Make Ready Lock – Part No. 3215B

The unique Stedall Make Ready Lock saves people time and money. It is a compression latch that has been designed to include a feature that indicates very clearly whether or not it has been operated at all since it was last reset.

So how does a “Make Ready Lock” work?

When the lock is initially set, it will automatically show a bright Green indicator on the face of the latch. As soon as somebody opens the lock, the Green indicator becomes bright Red. The latch face will continue to show a Red indicator until the lock is reset with a special key.

The lock shares the same body profile as our standard 3215 and 3225 so will fit directly into the same cut out making it a very simple and quick retro-fit

A Tamper proof design ensures that the flag / indicator cannot be reset unless the specially designed key is used.

A Green reset key is supplied with each lock.
Locking and Non-Locking versions are available.

One handed operation to reset flag / indicator and close the lock when using the reset key.

Combined automatic fire detection and fire suppression systems are mainly used in engine bays. These systems utilise specialised red trace tubing which can operate in very high temperatures. E.G. in an engine bay containing a turbocharged engine without risk. If excess heat or fire is detected then the tube will rupture, accurately and rapidly suppress the flames.

The canisters contain Water based- AFFF Foam (3%) which works in two specific ways. Firstly, they provide rapid cooling and oxygen depletion. This cooling effect and reduction in the oxygen level available to maintain a fire is further amplified when the product is used in a confined space such as an engine bay or locker space. Secondly, all AFFF’s contain fluorinated surfactants which form a heat resistant film on the surface of hydrocarbon liquid fuels. This process works more efficiently on liquid pools of fuels because they are two dimensional, three dimensional fires such as may occur in engine bays are much more complex to extinguish and rely more upon the primary effect. The action of the secondary effect is far more important in terms of reducing the risk of the fire reoccurring following the initial extinguishment or ‘knock down’


There are two types of extinguisher available, both of which can be mounted in either a horizontal or vertical position.

Rear Step designed specifically for home delivery vehicles

Home Delivery Vehicle Rear StepA unique and robust step designed to be mounted to the rear of the vehicle that is ideally suited to the home delivery market. This step design is based upon the tried and tested principal of the very popular Stem 6138 Semi Automatic step. This version however has a treadplate width of 1800mm. A pedal to the right is pressed to deploy the step, utilising a gas strut which gives a smooth action. The pedal on the left is used to stow the step which means that the operator is not required to touch the unit with his hands. (An important factor when handling foodstuffs)

The design also enables the step to fully retract underneath the vehicle which greatly reduces the possibilty of damage whilst reversing.

Electric Truck… what next

Just what would a Tesla electric freight truck look like? It’s a question that many in the auto industry have been asking after the latest visionary bulletin (Master Plan, Part Deux) from Tesla founder and talisman Elon Musk.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote in his Master Plan, Part Deux, that future electric models from Tesla will include a full-sized truck.
He promised that it would “deliver a substantial reduction in the cost of cargo transport” as well as being safer and “really fun to operate”.

Ales Alajbegovic, VP Ground Transportation at EXA is in a position to have some inkling of the design that may be coming down the Tesla CV line (and unveiled as early as next year). EXA already works with Tesla to reduce aerodynamic drag on its passenger vehicles, as well as truck firms and semi-trailer makers to help reduce air drag and cut down on the substantial fuel costs.

LED lighting… move over.

LEDs are already standard for car lighting. The next technological development is on the starting blocks though with OLED (organic LED). The major advantage of OLEDs: The technology offers completely new options for the design of light and luminaires.

LEDs are point light sources, whereas OLEDs are surface lights. Several lighting applications in cars – indicators, tail lamps, or interior light – require wide-area illumination. The most significant challenge for organic light emitting diodes in automotive applications is thermal stability: To meet the requirements of manufacturers, OLEDs in tail lights for example must resist temperature peaks of at least 85 degrees Celsius.

The complexity of vehicle doors

Door ComplexitiesThe door is one of the most complex systems on a vehicle. It must look good, incorporate crash stability and, above all, be fit for the purpose, typically opening and closing more than 50,000 times during the vehicle’s life. It also hides a myriad of functional componentry such as the window lift mechanism, locks, electric motor to operate the wing mirror, wiring harness, various switches, loud speaker and a cable that connects the latch to the inner release handle.

The less you need to modify the door the better it will be.  This is why our automated door  systems are so great, easy to fit, easy to use.  All the components needed are in the kit and vehicle specific fixing kits are available.
